Central Community House is renovating an 1890s-built house and carriage house, which was our agency's facility home from 1965 to 2005 and currently sits vacant in the improving historic district of Olde Towne East. This new project will bring many new assets to the community:

- A working art gallery and art studio/classroom spaces for a thriving teen/youth art-based mentorship and development program, Transit Arts.
- Classrooms and computer lab for workforce development, job assistance and GED/work training to link individuals to employment
- Conference/meeting space offered for rent to the public and to local civic associations, businesses and neighborhood residents for retreats, offsite meetings, celebrations, etc. bringing visitors to the area
- One apartment offered for reduced rent to a low-income single person or couple in exchange for property caretaking (and 24/7 presence). One bedroom, bath, living area and mini kitchen
- Offices to be offered for rent to small businesses, entrepreneurs, community groups or other nonprofits bringing those jobs to the region
- Community kitchen and gathering spaces including an outdoor courtyard and green space leading to an adjacent city park

You can help us build a safe haven for kids who turn to art and creative expression instead of destructive lifestyles found in urban streets. The space will foster capitalism, entrepreneurship and productivity for those who have limited opportunities for work and career paths. This also will be a place where motivated community members will work together to combat blight and violence in the neighborhood.
